This past year has been a blur for me, but it has been productive. I managed to get 4 books published, Vixen Hunted, Shepherd Hunted, Come and Sleep: the Folklore of the Japanese Fox, and Tanuki: the Folklore of Japan’s Trickster.
I was hired at a public library to be their Assistant Director this year. It’s a great gig.
JP has grown a lot thanks to you. Views doubled to more than 300,000 total views for the year. O_o. We are flirting with 1k Facebook likes and ran our first contest with Tuttle Publishing. It was hard to select winners. But Andrew and I settled on these three stories:
Some long time readers may remember I used to run ads to help pay for hosting. Well, I dropped them in favor of writing books. I don’t make much on my books. In fact, it will be years before my investment is recouped, but each book you buy — and each comment you leave on Amazon — encourages me. Your support helps me keep JP going, and your comments help me improve as a writer.
Oh, and JP had a facelift….again.
This year didn’t see many anime review articles. I didn’t have a lot of time to watch, and I lacked motivation to write reviews. I need to fix that. Do you have any anime suggestions?
So what’s in store for 2016?
I plan on continuing my research-based writing. I enjoy ferreting around databases. I am a librarian after all ^_^. I am considering a few different article series, such as how to be an anime critic and drawing lessons.
I tend not to write about myself. Would you want to read a little about life as a librarian and “old” anime fan? How about an article about tea? I love tea.
I have the last book in The Hunted Trilogy to finish and publish. I also have a book about anime blogging in the works, along with several other stories and projects bouncing around my head.
2016 should be interesting. I just hope it doesn’t pass as quickly as 2015.
As always, if you want to see an article about something you don’t understand about Japan or have a question, let me know. I am also open for guest posts. Thanks for all your support.
